Dear Colleagues and Members,

I am pleased to be writing to you as Managing Director and on behalf of the Independent Chair, Christine Gilbert, inviting you to the first Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The AGM will take place on Thursday 24th January 2019 at Camden School for Girls, arriving at 4pm onwards; the formal items of business (i.e. the re-election of the Board and the re-appointment of the auditors) will commence at around 4.30pm. Our academic speaker Professor Dom Wyse will then follow the formal proceedings and there will be time for questions. You will be able to pick up a copy of the Camden Learning Annual Report 2017-18 at the AGM and then following the meeting, a copy will be emailed to each school and Chair of Governors.

We are delighted that Professor Dominic Wyse has agreed to speak at the AGM. Dominic is Professor of Early Childhood and Primary Education at the University College London (UCL), Institute of Education (IOE). Dominic has written a number of books which include the most recent publication, ‘How Writing Works’ from the invention of the alphabet to the rise of social media. Dominic is going to structure his lecture on writing, taking us on a unique journey into the process of writing development and the learning and experiences he has captured over the years. Dominic references the Rosetta stone as the key most important piece of research he has come across and when asked what would surprise people to know about him, that he is an expert in food and cooking. We look forward to hearing from Dominic at the AGM.

We anticipate that, in general, member schools will be represented at the AGM by their Head teachers and accompanied by their Chair of Governors if possible. If you want your school to be represented by anyone other than the Head teacher, please could you let Camilla Borwick-Fox know before the AGM by post or (during normal business hours only) to Camden Learning, 11th Floor, 5 Pancras Square, London N1C 4AG. You can instead send it by email to info@camdenlearning.org.uk.
