In this week’s issue you’ll see links to resources that summarise the Education White Paper as well as a talk by Sam Freedman who presented at an event held by the Association of Education Partnerships (AEPA). I would recommend you watch Sam’s presentation.

We will see in the Queen’s Speech on 10 May how much of what is outlined in the paper will be in Government plans in the coming year. At the Primary Headteacher and Secondary Chairs’ Network meetings this week it was clear that the importance of chapter 4 of the white paper can’t be underestimated. Chapter 4 outlines the plan to have all schools in a strong multi academy trust or with plans to join or form one, amongst other things.

It is clear from feedback from schools that there is a sense of urgency in understanding what the next steps are for Camden Learning and Camden schools. The Board will be discussing this at their next meeting on 19 May. As we have said, we will keep schools informed of our planned next steps and will ensure that schools have an active role in shaping our plans. It is important we fully consider our options before rushing to action, but equally important that we a plan in place that gives the reassurance and surety that schools need.

I am planning to visit as many schools as possible over the coming weeks. I look forward to seeing as many of you as I can in person. I hope you have an enjoyable and relaxing weekend.

Interim Managing Director, Camden Learning
