Camden Learning is seeking to appoint two or more Non-Executive Directors to its Board.

Since its establishment in 2017, Camden Learning has become a significant force for improvement for Camden schools. It is a company limited by guarantee and all Camden state schools are members of the company. Camden Learning enjoys strong support from the Council which also has two Director places on the Board.

An education partnership jointly owned by Camden Council and Camden’s schools, Camden Learning seeks to build a strong education system by acting as an engine of improvement, brokering connections, support and initiatives across schools. Schools themselves, through Camden Learning, have taken on responsibility for ensuring that every school has the support it needs to improve and achieve well.

In order to drive the next stage of Camden Learning’s development, we are seeing to recruit two or more additional Directors to the board of Directors. The Directors oversee the strategic direction of the business, delegating day to day management to the Managing Director and his team. The roles will be “non-executive” and on a volunteer, unpaid basis. It is a fantastic opportunity to use your skills to make a difference to children and young people in Camden.

An enhanced DBS check will be carried out on successful candidates. Candidates must be eligible to be a Director under the Companies Act 2006 and related legislation.

NB Owing to the makeup of the existing Board, we cannot appoint a Director who is, or has been, an employee of a local authority or a local councillor at any time in the four years prior to appointment (i.e. a Local Authority Associated Person under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989).
