Newly Qualified Teachers

Whilst many local authorities have ceased to offer a training programme for NQTs, Camden Learning continues to offer a well-established and successful programme delivered by its member schools. The programme is delivered as a central part of our school-led improvement model and offers practical focused professional development. We believe that our lead practitioners in schools are the best placed to ensure that teachers coming into the profession get the expert support and advice they need at the beginning of their career.

To register for induction as a Camden NQT your first step is to contact NQT Induction Team @ nqtsupport@camdenlearning.org.uk

Testimonials

Personally, I have found the NQT program very informative and practical on many levels. Having the opportunity to meet others in the same process and sharing ideas and experiences in different settings (triads) has been a key part of my learning process. Natasha Crabbe, Thomas Coram School

The Camden NQT programme supported me to develop and improve my teaching during my first year. The weekly training sessions helped to increase my confidence and subject knowledge and built on my understanding of teaching and learning from my PGCE. It was also brilliant to have an opportunity to meet other NQTs and discuss and reflect on our experiences each week, as well as supporting each other through our first teaching year. The best part was being involved in the triads and I learnt a lot from visiting other schools and observing different teachers.

Sophie Keating, Primrose Hill Primary School

The Camden NQT Programme is excellent value for money and led by knowledgeable and experienced professionals. The drive to retain quality Camden teachers is important, and building on the strength of the Camden Primary Partnership Teaching School Alliance, this is a way of further training and developing teachers at the start of their career. The programme of study is rich, allowing for visits and experience in other schools as well as addressing topics new teachers will benefit from.

Robin Warren, Headteacher Primrose Primary School

As a former Camden NQT myself, I am delighted that so many new teachers are choosing to begin their careers in Camden. The vibrancy and diversity of the Camden area are reflected in the training opportunities offered in the NQT programme. NQTs have the chance to train and observe in some truly excellent schools and the support offered is strong. Working in Camden is a joy and the NQT programme sets new teachers firmly on the path to success.
