The Camden Primary Maths Hub brings together maths leads from primary and special schools to strengthen mathematics teaching across the borough. Led by Eleanor Palmer Primary School, the Hub creates a dynamic professional community where teachers can explore, test and refine approaches that deepen mathematical understanding for all learners. Far more than a termly meeting, the Hub offers ongoing opportunities for shared practice, collaborative enquiry and professional curiosity, helping staff build confidence, strengthen subject knowledge and develop classroom strategies that make a meaningful difference to pupils’ mathematical thinking.
The Hub is designed to respond directly to the priorities shaping maths education across Camden, with a particular focus on supporting Year 4 teachers as they navigate key curriculum expectations, including the multiplication tables check. By building strong networks, the Hub fosters social capital among teachers and creates space for collaborative problem-solving, resource sharing and peer support. It also promotes meaningful links between pupils across schools, enriching their learning experiences and raising aspirations. Through its established partnership with the local National Maths Hub at St Marylebone School, supported by the Camden Learning Maths Adviser’s NCETM lead role, the Hub ensures that local practice is aligned with national evidence, expertise and innovation, enabling schools to benefit from high‑quality professional development and research-led approaches.
Open to senior leaders, phase leaders, SENDCos, class teachers and teaching assistants, the Hub welcomes a wide range of professionals committed to developing high‑quality, maths provision.
