About the School

William Ellis School is a thriving, voluntary aided, non-denominational, inclusive comprehensive boys’ school serving the educational needs of boys from the ages of 11 to 18. It is an attractive site on the edge of Hampstead Heath with excellent access to Central London. It is a neighbourhood of great social and cultural diversity, and this diversity is very well represented at William Ellis.

The school is committed to nurturing successful students and good citizens through strong relationships in line with the school motto, “rather use than fame”. The school is part of the longest established and most successful mixed sixth form consortium in London, LaSWAP, which enables our students to access a wide range of subject expertise. We provide excellent professional opportunities for staff and are part of the Camden family of schools.

About the role

We are currently looking for a Teacher of Science who can bring commitment and expertise to our curriculum offer, supporting and teaching students across all key stages. You would be supported in your professional development whatever your stage of teaching career. The Science Department is well-established and has a track record of strong attainment, especially for the 30% of students who take three separate sciences at GCSE. The team are cohesive and strongly committed to the school. All the teachers are able to teach general science at Key Stage 3, as well as their own specialism at Key Stage 4 to triple or combined Science groups. There is a diverse A Level offer: William Ellis leads the vocational science provision in the LaSWAP Consortium and teaches all three Science A Level subjects. Enrichment provision in the department includes partnership work with the local CRICK Institute and takes advantage of education provision at a range of London university and museum venues.

The successful candidate will be:

A highly motivated and inspirational classroom practitioner with excellent subject knowledge
Committed to maximising pupil progress through setting high standards and by delivering effective teaching and learning
Able to motivate, lead, support and challenge students to be successful
If you are seeking a challenging and highly rewarding position, enriching the lives of students and the local community, we look forward to hearing from you.
