Supporting complex need in mainstream settings
The Camden Learning SEND Adviser team have worked with Camden Schools to identify the core components of effective provision, including:
- Clear purpose and alignment with a whole‑school inclusion strategy
- Robust identification of need through the graduated approach
- Skilled staffing and thoughtfully designed environments
- An ambitious, personalised curriculum linked to mainstream learning
- Relational, inclusive behaviour practices
- Ongoing monitoring of progress, engagement and reintegration
- Strong leadership, accountability and sustainable resourcing
The guidance positions enhanced provision as a way to strengthen inclusive practice across the whole school, ensuring that pupils with complex SEND need can access learning, feel a strong sense of belonging, and achieve positive outcomes.
