Our latest Governor Diversity Annual Report highlights our ongoing efforts to enhance diversity within governing bodies and outlines our future initiatives.
Alignment with Camden’s 2030 Mission
The report supports Camden’s 2030 mission to ensure that leadership reflects the community’s diversity, in line with the Department for Education’s guidance. Embracing diversity fosters inclusivity, provides diverse role models, and enhances decision-making by incorporating various perspectives and avoiding groupthink.
Survey Insights
From the last academic year:
- Ethnicity: Approximately 60% of Camden’s governors are White British, indicating underrepresentation of other ethnicities.
- Gender: Women constitute about 60% of governors.
- Disability: The proportion of governors reporting a disability exceeds the borough’s population average.
- Age: Only 25% of governors are under 45, highlighting a need for younger representation.

Community Engagement

Future Plans
We aim to:
- Deepen community engagement.
- Increase the use of social media.
- Closely monitor candidate uptake.
- Commission additional central training sessions to support diversity.
- Ensure in-school training reaches more governors.
Our commitment to diversity remains steadfast as we continue to build governing bodies that truly reflect our community.
