On 30 April, the iconic Royal Albert Hall hosted a spectacular showcase of talent as over 1,800 children and young people from Camden’s primary, secondary, and special schools participated in the Camden Schools’ Music Festival. This event, a highlight in Camden’s cultural calendar, brought together pupils, families, teachers, music tutors, musicians, and composers for an evening of musical celebration.
Highlights of the Festival included
- Performances by Camden Concert Band, Camden Youth Orchestra, Camden Youth Jazz Band, and massed choirs from various schools.
- A range of music genres including classical, jazz, folk, hip-hop, pop, and musical theatre.
- Collaborations between Khiyo Band, Showmi Das, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
- A newly commissioned version of Kerry Andrew’s ‘No Place Like’, originally for BBC Ten Pieces.

Support for Music Education
Camden Music provides subsidised music lessons for children receiving Free School Meals and ensures quality music education for all. The event was organised by Camden Music with support from Camden Music Trust, Camden Learning, Camden Council, Arts Council England, and the London Music Fund.
