Over 400 students engaged in hands-on experiences with top companies

From July 8 to 12, Camden STEAM collaborated with leading companies like Google, AstraZeneca, Digital Catapult, and UCL to offer work experience placements to over 400 students. This year’s program was the most successful yet, engaging Year 12 students from across Camden’s secondary schools and colleges.

Diverse Opportunities Across STEAM Fields

Students had the chance to work with a variety of top STEAM employers, including Camden Council services, AutogenAI, and Phoenix Court. Highlights included:

  • Google: Hosted over 100 students at their King’s Cross headquarters, offering mentorship and collaboration on their new building project.
  • Digital Catapult: Provided workshops on the Internet of Things, immersive technology, and lab skills.
  • UCL Biomedical Sciences: Offered activities like studying 3D images of a mouse brain and writing research proposals on genetic modification.

Empowering the Future Workforce

Councillor Marcus Boyland emphasized the importance of the program in giving young people the tools to succeed. Dinah Caine, Chair of Camden STEAM, thanked everyone involved for their dedication and support.

Breaking Barriers and Building Futures

With the support of local businesses, institutions, and schools, Camden STEAM continues to prepare Camden’s diverse youth for the careers of tomorrow.
