Camden students celebrated yesterday as they received their GCSE results. Provisional results saw 73.7% of Camden schools’ GCSE exam entries awarded grade 4 or above, higher than this year’s national average of 67%. 7.2% of GCSE exam entries by Camden schools gained the top grade 9 this year, also above the 2026 national average of 5%, and 29% were at grade 7 or above, compared to the national average of 21.8%.
The percentage of Camden Year 11 students achieving a ‘strong pass’ in GCSE English and maths – grade 5 or above in both subjects – increased to 49%, and the percentage achieving a ‘standard pass’ in English and maths – grade 4 and above in both – also increased to 65%. Validated results are expected to be above or in line with the national average when these are published in final performance tables later this year.
Camden’s overall results, which are all above last year’s figures, reflect the commitment of students, families, teachers and school staff, and build on the collaborative approach set out in our Education Strategy, Building Back Stronger.
Among the many success stories across the borough was Siam Ahmed from Maria Fidelis Catholic School, who received the top grade 9 in all 10 of his GCSEs. At Regent High School, Holly Meehan, who has special educational needs, was delighted to have passed seven GCSEs and has a place on a Supported Internship with learning disability charity Mencap, arranged through Camden’s SEND and Inclusion Team.
Whether considering A-levels, T Levels or apprenticeships, students can explore their options following Year 11 on Camden’s Post-16 Next Steps website and on the Camden Rise website.
